Inspired by the many medicalprofessionals and rescue workers who have given of their time and skillto assist the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, some ofBoston's finest singers and players of early music have joined forcesto assist relief efforts by doing what they do best. Led by sopranoJaya Lakshminarayanan, a former hospital volunteer in Haiti's interior, they have assembled a program of psalms interpreted byFrench renaissance composers le Jeune and Goudimel, modern New Englandcomposers Karl Henning and Steven Serpa, and the German baroque masterJohann Sebastian Bach. Proceeds from the concert go to support therelief effort of the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer in Deschapelles, Haiti.

Hôpital Albert Schweitzer, founded in 1956 by Larimer and Gwen Mellon,provides medical care and community health and development programs formore than 300,000 impoverished people in the Artibonite Valley ofcentral Haiti. Visiting medical professionals from North America andabroad work with a permanent Haitian staff of almost 550. Financialsupport comes from partner organizations and private individuals aroundthe world.

The Framingham State College Chorus under the direction of Dr. Paul Cienniwa will give its annual Holiday Concert at First Church. The chorus of thirty undergraduate, alumni and community singers (including some First Church members) will be accompanied by pianist Jane Raithel and guest harpist Barbara Poeschl-Edrich. The program will feature arrangements of popular holiday classics and a special performance of John Rutter's "Dancing Day" for women's chorus and harp. This event is open to all. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit our Handbell Restoration Fund.
